American Preservation Society Who we are: We are a likeminded group of people dedicated to preserving the American way of life. We come from all different backgrounds, cultures, social statuses, and belief systems but maintain a belief in republic and the American dream. What we believe: • We believe in the founding principles as expressed in the founding documents of the United States. Although we concede our founding fathers were not perfect men even in their time, we cannot hold them accountable to today’s standards. What we can express of these men is they conceived the greatest form of government this world has ever seen, and which has allowed us the ability to fulfill their vision. • We believe that all men are created equal with the inalienable rights of life and liberty endowed by our creator. • We believe the power of the government comes from the people. Those in positions of power serve the people and are no better or worse than those they serve. These people are beholden to the same law as those they serve. • We believe in the complete freedom of speech of all citizens. We acknowledge there is no need to protect speech which comforts and soothes the masses but there is a need to protect speech which is seen as unpopular or offensive so as to preserve an open dialogue of thought. • We believe in the freedom of religion and acknowledge the role religion has played in the history of this country. As long as the practice of religion does not infringe on the life and liberty of another the practice of religion shall not be deterred. • We believe in a truly free press. As a vital component of the freedoms we enjoy as a people the press carries a great burden to be a watchdog of the government and to resist taking sides in any political discourse. • We believe in the right and need of the people to arm themselves for their own personal protection and to dissuade the abuse of the citizenry from the government who serves the people. • We believe a just and ordered society needs enforcement of law made up of those who demonstrate the utmost moral character and the ability to enforce the law equally for all people. • We believe the people consent to give a portion of their power to the government so as to enact laws necessary for a peaceful and just society. Such a society based on a social contract depends on adherence to the law by the people and the promise of the government to enforce those laws. • We believe the federal government has a duty to protect the people from all enemies and diseases and values which pose a danger to our people. The government therefore has a duty to enforce laws which ensure that all people who cross our borders have been checked for criminal records, disease, terrorist ties, and the ability to financially or socially contribute to our society. • We believe it is our duty as citizens to participate in the democratic process and without our participation we have no ownership of our nation.
