Under the Constitution the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court sits on an impeachment trial but John Roberts has recused himself because he has no jurisdiction over a former president only a sitting president... so, why are the Dems following thru? Well, you have to look into their verbiage with everything they are saying, if you've noticed they call this an insurrection, they claim the President was part of an insurrection to overthrow Congress, their words have meaning and they didn't use that word lightly... After the Civil War Congress passed the 14th amendment which states if you are part of an insurrection against the overthrow of the United States government, you can no longer hold office! So, what they're going to do is try to find him guilty of insurrection and label Trump as an resurrectionist so he can no longer run for office again! That's devious and they are stretching the limits of the law... my only question is what are they afraid of? If their plans for the country are so great then it won't matter WHO runs against their candidate because there's no way that person would be defeated... I believe secretly they know their plans suck and they want to insure no one can win against their chosen candidate!
