View MoreNovember 29, 2025, the 333rd day of 2025 Enjoying Leftovers Thanksgiving dinner was so good. And though it took a lot to get it all done and put together on time, these next few days we are enjoying the leftovers, that take hardly any time at all. It is the relaxing, laid back days of Thanksgiving weekend. Pumpkin pie with eggnog coffee has been our breakfast fares for the last few days, which is really good. Last night supper was basically a 2nd Thanksgiving meal, reheated in the woodstove over. Turkey sandwiches for lunch have been great, especially with an afternoon mug of hot cranberry/ apple juice. Making those extra pumpkin pies meant we still had pumpkin pie for dessert even with the breakfasts. Yesterday we simmered the turkey for the soup and got more turkey off the bones. Today we added the veggies and rice for turkey soup for supper. Of course the farm poultry has been enjoying all the scraps of meat, apple bits and veggie cuttings. Christmas season is in full swing, but since we are cutting a live tree we don't put it up this early anymore. With an artificial tree it was usually put up this weekend. The Christmas schedule is already filling up. Crazy how fast this year sped by! But it has been a good one. The Thanksgiving season is the perfect lead-in to the Christmas season where we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, our King Jesus! Of all things Jesus is the most to be thankful for! If Jesus hadn't been born a human infant, He could not have grown up into the sinless Man Who died in our place, making salvation possible to all who would come to Him! The joy of the season comes from the love that God has for us that was so grear that He sent Jesus, His Only Begotten Son to us. Jesus opened the path back to the Father, granting us adoption into the family of God upon repentance and full surrender to Jesus as our Lord and Master, our King! That is more than any of us could ever expect or deserve! Stay strong! Make celebration and relaxation both parts of your Holiday activities! NAN

Now comes the rest and relaxation after the busy day and the delicious meal. I am sitting down with another mug of hot cranberry/apple juice as I write. I used to think that our Thanksgivings would always include a lot of family and friends and require a very large turkey and lots of side dishes. It had been like that for most of my childhood and married life. But as more and more family moved away our gatherings got smaller. Bit as long as my mom was alive, some family member or many, would come back for the Holidays. But when she died 14 years ago, that changed, and that gigantic kind of Thanksgiving faded away. As more grew up and moved away, it changed yet more. And when my beloved husband died and years later our house burned down, it flipped between large and small, depending on who was hosting it or if we did it separately. But big or small, house full and boisterous or quiet and sedate, alone or with family, it is a time to celebrate our thankfulness to God for seeing us through another year, and providing the ability to partake of a meal of Thanksgiving. Of course as life changes our ideas of what is important to us may change, but we should always remain thankful. And this day is just one way to acknowledge that giving of thanks and our appreciation anf gratitude. Some years were harder than others for me. Some years so many heartbreaking things happened that it was hard to breath in without crying, much less eat. It was like that the year my husband died, unexpectedly, the third week of November. Still, even in that loss, we all knew it was important to remain thankful for what we did have, not dwell on what we had lost--life shattering as it was. There was time to mourn before and later, but that was not the time. Remembering and being thankful for the good in our lives may be harder when sorrow happens, but it is especially important then, or grief and loss will color our attitude. Every November comes that anniversary, before Thanksgiving. And every year is the reminder of that loss, before we celebrate God's faithfulness through all of our times. It is not because we have had an absence of hard times that we celebrate Thanksgiving, it is because whatever we go through, God is there, with us. It is not because we can afford a feast that we celebrate Thanksgiving, but that in the days of plenty or want, God is still faithful. Thanksgiving is not a time to bemoan our losses, but to be grateful for all that we do have, especially the salvation we find in Jesus Christ and the promise of eternal life! Stay strong! View MoreNovember 25, 2025, the 329th day of 2025 Don't Grow Weary of Doing Good Weariness of the heart and soul is something that goes beyond a weary body. A weary body can push through to finish a task. It is just weary. It not utterly exhausted. And even an exhausted body can rest up a bit and then get up and keep going. But a weary heart, a weary soul can feel like something is useless, not worth the effort or an impossible task. We must be mindful of the difference. Preventing soul weariness requires the determination of our mind. We have to use our will power and control what we think, what matters to us, and why. "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith." Galatians 6:9-10 If we do not guard our mind anf focus our thoughts on Jesus and pleasing Him--while looking forward to eternal rewards--we will get emotionally drained and soul weary. Why would we get weary of doing good? Well, just look at all the people doing nothing to help anyone, who actually cause harm, ready to pounce on anyone who does any good. Then they put evil alterior motives for the good done. If we try to defend our motives to those who do not understand the love of God, who do not want to obey God's commands, it can weary the soul. We have to guard against that. We must realize that those who have turned away from following righteousness, have hardened their hearts to God. They have no idea of how a true Christian functions. They naturally attribute our actions to their actions. They may do good if it will impress their peers, but they will do evil just as readily for the same reason. They will sell themselves for money, holding up signs and protesting what they have no clue of the reason or the consequence. They crave attention. So they expect that is why we do what we do. They live so many lies that the truth can find no place in them. So, ignore them. It is like letting a fool bother you when you have seen they are a fool. Otherwise they will steal your joy, disrupt your purpose and make you feel defeated. This is the same attitude that was prevalent in the days of Jesus. It is just reworked for modern times and media. They hated Jesus then! Of course they hate His followers now! Do not let them frustrate you or turn you bitter. Do good where you can, but do not neglect doing good to fellow Christians. They will appreciate you. They will praise God for your help and pray blessings upon you! Stay strong! Do good and don't worry about what others think or say. Work to please Jesus, not others! NAN
