Alert: School and Business Closures and Significant Planned Electrical Outages
Location: Nationwide
Event: On April 17, 2024, Ecuador鈥檚 President Daniel Noboa issued a new decree suspending the school and workday for both public and private institutions on April 18 and 19. Some private businesses may remain open, but planned electrical outages will significantly impact the availability of services.
The United States Embassy and Consulate in Ecuador will remain open; all consular appointments remain as scheduled.
The Government of Ecuador鈥檚 Ministry of Mines and Energy announced a series of planned electrical outages across the country that began on April 16, 2024 and will continue until otherwise announced by the Government of Ecuador. Electrical outages vary based on zone.
Outage schedules will be available on each of Ecuador鈥檚 electrical power provider鈥檚 websites. Electrical outage schedules posted on the provider鈥檚 websites may not be exact and outages may be intermittent and unpredictable. Be aware that power cuts may affect traffic lights, power in buildings (including elevators) that do not have independent generators, cellular service, and the internet.
Shopping centers and restaurants may not be open during a power outage.

"April 16, 2016, a day many Ecuadorians will never forget. Exactly eight years ago, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake rocked the country. The quake's epicenter was near the Manabí town of Pedernales. More than 670 people were killed nationwide.
Manta, Pedernales and Portoviejo accounted for over 75 percent of total casualties. Hundreds of homes and other buildings were either damaged or destroyed.
To this day, there are still some people waiting for government help to rebuild their homes and their lives, THANKS TO The corruption and malfeasance of office of former VP of Ecu Jorge David Espinel (slick as) Glass."🪞

As reported by users on social networks, the power outage began at approximately 01:00 in several sectors and lasted until 05:00.
馃敠馃暞 Citizens expressed their complaints to the electrical companies of Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca. Given the complaints, the Centrosur company, which supplies Azuay, Ca帽ar and Morona Santiago, reported that the power outage was due to emergency maintenance. View More11APR24- 10 Common Injuries During Societal Breakdown- "If you look at the statistics for injuries around the world you鈥檒l find they are often divided into categories defined by workplace injuries, home injuries, injuries related to crimes and violence, and injuries related to natural disasters.
The reason those statistics are defined that way is because of the unique dangers that each presents on an everyday basis. But that all changes during a societal breakdown and every possible injury becomes an everyday threat.
Gunshot and stab wounds
If one thing is common in a time of societal collapse it鈥檚 an increase in crime, violence and general civil unrest. Gunshot wounds will be common and stab wounds and injuries from assaults and robberies will increase.
Preps for Gunshot and stab wounds
The obvious advice is to avoid areas where crime or unrest commonly occur. Unfortunately, many of the victims of gunshot wounds are innocent victims far from the gunfire, and on the receiving end of a gunshot that can travel for miles.
Stabbings will most often occur during robberies or physical altercations. Blunt force trauma from weapons to baseball bats are another inevitable possibility..." -

View More10APR24- ⚖️ "A former Odebrecht executive, José Conceiçao Santos, said he paid bribes to former vice president Jorge Glas. His testimony under oath came within the trial taking place in the United States against the former Ecuadorian Comptroller General Carlos Pólit.
Conceiçao said that he did not remember the amount exactly, but that it was between $17 million and $18 million and that he gave it to Glas both in cash and through bank transfers. He also admitted to having paid some $12 million in bribes to Pólit. Some of this information had come out before.
Meanwhile, the former member of the Judiciary Council, Xavier Muñoz, said there was planning among former president Rafael Correa, the former president of the Judiciary Council, Wilman Terán, and the former president of the Citizen Participation Council, Alembert Vera to suspend and dismiss the attorney general, Diana Salazar. They were allegedly trying to annul Correa's sentence for bribery.
Muñoz testified about a meeting in a hotel in Brasil, in mid-2023, in which Rafael Correa personally told him that they as a political movement are going to analyze political support in the bloc, but he clarified that Muñoz has to support Wilman Terán. Terán was also the judge who allegedly prepared the precautionary measure that freed Jorge Glas from prison in 2022.

I haven't finished the entire video, but there are some interesting points regarding what happened at the Mexican embassy and Mexico's history in Latin America of being the country where politicians took refuge when being persecuted.
There's also a bit about Fernando Villavicencio and Diana Salazar (the latter I have to listen again) being US assets." -

On January 8, President Noboa, who had barely been in power for less than two months, decreed a state of emergency for sixty days, which was then renewed for another month. This measure was taken in response to a series of attacks and violent actions perpetrated by criminal gangs, which reached their peak the following day with the assault by a group of hooded armed men on the TC Televisión channel during a live broadcast.
On that same day, Noboa declared the beginning of an "internal armed conflict" against 22 criminal gangs, which he called "terrorists."
