My dad spoke to me about his concerns regarding my drinking. In my head I turned it around. “Look who’s talking!” I walked away.
That’s how it is with alcoholics. I know, I am one and when it was time, I listened with desperation.
I was willing.
This book makes it very clear by stating “If [ they do ] not want to stop drinking, don’t waste time trying to persuade [ them ]”.
It just came to my mind that trying to get alcoholic to do anything is like herding cats. I left my cat alone and he came back and ate later.
This book goes on to say “You may spoil a later opportunity”.
When desperate enough I found A.A. or it found me.
Today I am sober and I am grateful for all those who were there when I was ready.
