I am not seeing how creating one post at OMB changes the spending habits of the federal government. The US is no longer a major producer of goods. It is a major consumer of goods. The US sent the bulk of its manufacturing capacity to China and Mexico in place of cheaper labor costs and government regulations. Unless you are bringing back manufacturing to the US like Trump was trying to achieve. Having the federal government purchasing American products is not going to mean a damn thing. If we are still not mass-produced items here like N-95 masks on our own soil. Which was the problem at the very beginning of this pandemic and still is a problem.
