Genesis 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Our world is subject to natural forces. We have to deal appropriately with them if we wish to succeed. I was thinking about the Muslims who attacked the US embassy in Pakistan. They seemed to believe that if they were sincere and committed, Allah would give them victory. He didn't. Some of them were shot, and they fled. Partly because Allah doesn't exist, and their cause is wicked, so neither God nor the non-existent Allah will help them. But, beyond that, if you want to beat a military force, you have to beat them by the natural rules that govern the universe. The USA is winning because we have the most powerful military machine on earth, highly advanced weapons and techniques, all the support structures for successful operations, etc. We have it because the principles of Christianity and capitalism, along with the various wars in which we have been involved, by necessity have propelled us to be militarily strong. We embody: Luke 14: 31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. We look at the numbers, look at our resources, look at the enemy, and devise a plan. Of course, we are not unassailable. Some other nation can analyze our weaknesses, bypass our strengths, and defeat us, using the same principles that make us strong. It's not that God will grant victory just because someone is right, or justified, or whatever. Occasionally that might have happened, but I suspect it is rare when it does. It is American/Christian might that has crushed the nation-level militarism of Islam since the fall of the Ottoman Empire.
