Raya Turns 5
God gives us animals in our lives to show some of His great love to us, and for us to give some of that great love back to them. They become a part of the family and add their uniqeness to it.
We have had many precious pets over the years, each one touching our hearts and impacting them in their own way.
Our little Boston Terrier, Raya, turns 5 today. She has her own unique personality, as all dogs do. But she is easy to please.
Lap time is her favorite thing, add a little ice cream to the mix and she is super happy. Throw in a few new toys and wow! Heavenly!
Since what she likes most is for us to hang around at home with her, that we are doing that for her birthday. Of course if Pirates' Hideaway were open today, she would be dressed up like a little pirate and eat ice cream there, while people asked to take jer picture. She is so adorable in dreadlocks.
But since it is But since it is closed early today (opens after 3) and it is a work day, we cannot go there. But we can stay home with her and let her sit on our laps while we listen to audiobooks or work on our phones. She doesn't need undivided attention, just a comfortable lap and a blanket thrown over her now and then.
As each one of us goes off to do chores, she will switch laps, but she is content to switch. We will try not to be gone all at once, but if we have to, she will warm a seat for us and then hop back on a lap.
Before the presents and actual party my daughter will dress her in her party dress and snap some posed birthday pictires. The rest of the pictires will be little blurs as she runs about excitedly.
Because when my son gets home from work she will greet him in her crazy way. Then we will have ice cream and open her presents. Once the party winds down she will hop back on laps.
Stay strong! Enjoy the little joys that make another happy, even if that other is your dog.
