Yoked to Jesus
Trying to go it alone in this world when we were meant to be yoked to Jesus, is very difficult. It is exhausting. It tires the soul. It drains our strength.
The weight of sin and unforgiveness, the burden of guilt for the wrong we have done, is too heavy for us.
Going it alone, unaided by the power and life force of Jesus is hurtful to body and soul.
Being a spiritual orphan, seperated from our Creator, Who is meant to be our Father, is the worst part of it.
And an even more dangerous position to be in is the deceived person, who believes he is a Christian, when he is a false convert.
A false Christian who wants his own way and demands that Jesus follows him, is far worse off than the one who knows that they are at odds with God. The false Christian assumes a salvation he does not have.
The false Christian knows about Jesus, but does not serve Jesus. He wants to avoid Hell, but he is headed there like any other lost soul who does not follow Jesus as Jesus commands, but according to their own dictates and that of the world.
He is like one who has the yoke of Jesus in his hands, instead of on his back, and he is trying to yank Jesus to his will and to following where he wants to go.
Trying to pull Jesus along, while we deceive ourselves into believing that we are yoked to Him, is foolishness and it is absurdity.
While truly taking the yoke of Jesus upon us, starts with true repentance and turning away from sin and turning to Jesus. Then bowing to Him in complete surrender of our all, we accept that yoke upon our back, with Jesus as our Lord and Master, our King. We willing follow His lead. Walking beside Jesus in His will, we find rest.
Jesus gives us His strength in our weakness. Jesus gives us eternal life, abumdant amd full. Jesus gives peace through whatever besets us--be it easy or hard, happy or heartbreaking. Once yoked to Jesus, He will never leave us or abandon us.
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
Stay strong! Take the yoke of Jesus upon you, and you will find a rest like no other!
