More to be Desired Than Gold
I learned these verses first by singing them, and I it takes effort to read them, without singing them. But since the Psalms were meant to be sung, I don't have a problem with that.
"The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward."
Psalms 19:7-11
There is just so much in those verses! Everything that God does is good, and for the good. Even when He disciplines and punishes. We see what lawless people who lack self-control can do to a society--wreck it fast!
Freedom can only survive in those who can control themselves and are not ruled by emotions. Otherwise the people of any nation become mere pawns of the Devil, who can move them at a whim.
Look upon obedience to God as a privilege, a way to honor our beloved Creator, and not as a chore. See it for the great thing that it is!
Stay strong! Following the way of God leads you to a more blessed life.
