Dream With a Message
Early this morning I had a dream that stayed with me. I knew it had a spiritual meaning when I woke up. The dream felt real. I remember thinking a wondering during it, questioning actions.
I was in a car with three or four other people. I was in the back seat on the right side, by the window.
It was a wide car, so three could easily fit across the front anf back seat. Old car, no bucket seats.
Everyone got out but me. They weren't going to be gone long, so I waited in the car. It started getting darker, but I could still see clearly around me. I was looking out the window when a creepy looking man started walking toward the car. I heard a voice say, "lock your door".
It was one of those old doors and locks that popped up, and push down by hand. I hurriedly pushed it down. I felt relieved, but them realized that the other doors were still unlocked. He had gone around the back of the car.
I turned to the left and a man was sitting there, I hadn't noticed that he had returned, he was just sitting there, not attentiveat at all. The creepy man was walking slowly, closer and closer to the door. "Lock your door!" I yelled. He didn't pay attention to me or the danger. I yelled it again. He ignored me. I had to reach over him and lock the door. It clicked down just as the creepy man reached the door handle. He saw it was locked and didn't even try it.
After that he kept going to the driver's door, which was still empty. The man was still sitting ignoring everything going on around him and was now partially blocking my access to the front seat. I didn't bother asking him to move or do anything to help. He was still unaware of any danger.
I flung myself half over the front seat and snapped down the lock. The creepy man walked to the front of the car and slowly headed toward the front passenger seat. I righted myself and locked that door before the creepy man got there.
I felt a slight relief because all the doors were locked, but the evil intent emanating from him was palpable. I didn't know what he would do next.
I sat in the car, expecting that the creepy man would smash the windows, or rock the car over, or pull at the doors. But he didn't do any of it. He simply walked away.
I was stunned. Then I woke up.
In my waking the Lord revealed the spiritual aspect of the imagery to me throughout the day. A lot was poured into my heart.
But these were the clearest points He made of it.
God has warned us about unlocked doors, and we need to heed Him when He reveals them to us, and be quick to lock them. A shut door may appear to us a safe, but it is not safe from an enemy intent on getting to us.
The enemy is always looking for weaknesses in us, unlocked doors he can enter through.
God gives us warnings of these unlocked doors in His word. Obeying the commands of Jesus locks those doors.
But one locked door is not enough. The Devil will scope us out, looking for the unlocked doors.
Some people in our lives who should be responsible for locking their own door, don't. They either are ignorant of the danger or are ignoring the warning. We can warn them, but if they do nothing about it, we have to lock the door they are ignoring because their inaction can let the enemy in.
What that means for each person, God has to reveal, but knowing that we can become vulnerable because of people we let into our lives is an important warning. It is another reason to keep from being unequally yoked.
If we warn someone in our lives and they do not lock the door to the enemy, we must do it ourselves or we will be vulnerable. What that looks like outside of a dream, where we can crawl over them to push down the lock, I do not know. All I know is that it requires prayer.
When we are a child of God, within the protection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Devil really cannot do anything to us, if we do not give him access. He will try to look more powerful than he is. But his power is limited to what we allow him to have access to.
We also cannot give into despair because our protection doesn't seem to stand up against the enemy. If we believe he can smash our windows and crush us within our protected place, he has already gained a victory through paralyzing fear.
The Devil is slow and meticulous. While we feel safe with certain locked doors, he will seek out those we had shut, but not locked. We must never get complacent.
Hearing the word of God, reading the Bible and learning from it shuts the door on the enemy. But if we do not obey His commands, being doers of the word, not just hearers of it, the doors remain unlocked, and we are vulnerable and may not even be aware of it.
“Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”
James 1:21-25
Stay strong! Shut and lock those doors by hearing and obeying the commands of Jesus!
