Is Jesus Really Your Lord?
There are some warning signs that show if we have not surrendered fully to the Lordship of Jesus. One of them is expecting that Jesus will do everything we ask, in the way we want, in the time we want.
And if He does not, then we are upset with Him and feel betrayed. Whether we admit it or not, that is to say that we are the lord, the boss, and Jesus is subservient to us.
That is the farthest thing from the truth, and however you got that impression, it came from taking verses out of context, claiming promises that were not meant for you, and ignoring the many "ifs" that come with certain promises.
If we have not first repented and turned away from sin, to Jesus, surrendering our life to Him as our Lord and Master, we are not one of His.
Since we do not have lords and kings over us in America, it is sometimes hard for us to understand the complete authority they hold over us. Merely calling someone your lord, while not obeying his commands would cause all kinds of trouble if we actually lived under a lord.
Jesus is not our Lord, if we do not obey Him. He is not our Lord if we expect Him to be our servant. He is not our Lord if we get ticked off at Him requesting us to do something we do not want to do. Jesus is not our Lord if we deny Him to others.
If we are holding anything back, Jesus knows it and is not deceived. He will not accept us until we fully surrender. In the meantime we have no rights as a child of God, which only comes with repentance and full surrender to Jesus, the only way to the Father.
If we repent, but do not surrender, we have not switched sides. We just feltl bad about the consequences of our sins, or want to have eternal life and blessings without facing any risks. That is not possible. It is self-deception.
If Jesus is our Lord, He is in charge, not us. There are specific things in the Bible that tell us how to pray and how God may resond. Jesus is not our Fairy Godfather. He is not our genie.
Jesus is not our servant. We are His servants. And the only way we get to the Kingdom of God, and become a new creation is to repent and turn to Jesus as our Lord, which is our Master. And Jesus is more than our Lord. He is our King!
Stay strong! Make sure you are not deceived in the state of your salvation. It matters.
