"Rejoice"
"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!"
Philippians 4:4
Spring has come. Trees had leafed out. Flower trees are blooming. Rain has refreshed. Sunshine has warned the earth. With that it is easy to rejoice.
But that is not always the case. We had rough patches that this verse has carried us through.
Rejoicing in the Lord, in His help, in His strength, in His love, is different than rejoicing about the bad things that happen. Bad is still bad, but it does not wipe out the good that God does, and what God can make of anything.
We can rejoice in them and through them, but it doesn't mean that we are overjoyed about them. We can rejoice still because we rejoice in the Lord.
There is gratitude in rejoicing. There is appreciation in rejoicing.
Rejoicing while enduring hard times teaches us that no matter what else is going on, rejoicing helps us realize that there is more than the hardships and hard times.
Rejoicing helps us to see past the difficult moments to what is beyond.
When we are a child of God, eternal life is beyond this life. No matter how hard things may get, that in itself should give us enough reason to rejoice. Jesus went to prepare a place for us in His Father's home, and He will return for us, that where He is, we can also be. I can always rejoice in that!
Rejoicing is an internal attitude that colors our lives. It doesn't mean that we will be without feelings, but that our feelings will be shepherded by this attitude.
Rejoicing is a choice. Sometimes it is an easy choice. Sometimes it is a difficult choice. We make it because we understand that God will never leave us or forsake us, even if everything around us crumbles.
It is not a flippant attitude. It is a seriois trust in God that shows in an inward joy, unrelated to external circumstances.
Rejoicing in the Lord makes all the difference!
Stay strong. Rejoice in thr Lord always!
