To lead astray the children of God.
The sin that Satan committed in the first earth age that caused God to sentence him to eternal "death" was to purposely and defiantly lead astray (chata) one third of God's children (Rev. 12:4), as in draw them away from His Mercy Seat of Truth and Justice and set himself up as the one with power and authority over the people and nations!
.
Satan willingly and unrepentantly committed sin (chata) for which by standing against the Holy Spirit of God and denying Truth and Justice to flow through him.
You "see", he chose of his own free will rather to lead astray God's precious children.
.
So with that knowledge and background in mind concerning "the first sin" that was 'never' forgiven,
and knowing that there is nothing new under the sun (i.e. in this flesh age), we turn to Matthew to learn what "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is", for it is the only sin which shall not be forgiven unto men in this flesh age!
.
You may recall from that,
Jesus Christ revealed His power and His Spirit unto the Pharisees who not only witnessed His good works but even admitted that "they WERE good works" when they said that "He did cast out evil spirits".
However, rather than joining with Him and acknowledging the Power of the Holy Spirit of God to overpower Satan's house, his evil empire, and "rescue the sheep from the pit", i.e. free the people from the evil one, they chose to willfully and purposely, because of the evil in their hearts (minds), stand AGAINST HIM and deny HIS Power and Authority, by actively accusing HIM before the people, of casting out evil spirits by the power of Beelzebub, one of Satan's names which means 'Lord of the Dunghill" (how fitting).
.
In other words, they attributed the 'good fruit' He produced of coming from the "evil tree", of being produced by Satan himself, so that they could maintain their own "self-exaltation", i.e. their power and authority over God's children, and keep them in bondage to their traditions of men, keeping also the children's hands withered that they might not be able to stretch forth and be healed and labor for the Lord!
Remember also that Jesus Christ "knew their thoughts", i.e. what was in their hearts, and they had become unrepentant corrupt trees which could only bear corrupt fruit!

This is the key to understanding what "blaspheme" is.
To deny and to willfully and purposely "hinder" is to stand against the Holy Spirit by denying the Holy Spirit, and falsely teaching others, rumoring and claiming that HIS Works are of Satan.

Matthew 12:32
"And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."
.
In the light of His Spirit and with full knowledge of the presence of His Power, for one to deny Him and teach against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him. You see, there is no sacrifice greater than that of Yeshua Messiah, and if you "willfully" stand against Him, there is no atonement left for you!
.
Think about it!
Again, what was the example set forth in Matthew 12?
The Pharisees, the spiritual leaders, "refused" to teach the people the Truth that the Tree of Life "was present" before them, that "the Kingdom of God had come",
and having seen and witnessed His Power they stood right before Jesus Christ and "knowingly and publicly" denied His Spirit and taught others that His power was of Satan!
That constitutes blaspheme against the Holy Spirit! Here it is:
Mark 3:30
"Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit."

Yes, they taught a boldfaced lie to the people, knowing in their HEARTS (Jesus knew their thoughts) that is/was NOT the Truth!
In other words, they "purposely and calumniously" brought forth bad fruit, "because of the evil" in their hearts (minds)... because they were corrupt "trees".

Luke 12:10
"And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven."
Go ahead and deny the Spirit of God the opportunity to speak the Truth through you!
Go ahead and rather teach lies unto the people knowing full well you are standing against the Holy Spirit and attributing His good works to evil! Go ahead and see where it gets you!
Take heed and "Either make the tree good and his fruit good, or make the tree corrupt and his fruit corrupt".

However, if your heart is pure and you are a True servant of God, then you need take no anxious thought nor premeditate what you shall say when you are delivered up, for as it is written the Holy Spirit shall speak "through you" as He did those on that first Pentecost Day following the resurrection.

Luke 12:11
"And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:"
.
This gives us the "time frame" when it is possible to commit the unpardonable sin.
It is when Satan is here, "in person" and God's elect are delivered up, at which time the Holy Spirit shall come upon them (as on that first Pentecost day in Acts 2) to give His witness and His testimony before men.
.
Should one choose at that time to stand against and deny His Spirit before men, declaring the fruit of the good tree to be of the corrupt one, it shall constitute blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
.
The point is, stay in His Word and be filled with His Spirit and then there is no need to be anxious nor even think about what you will say at the time of the delivering up, for as He Promised those who stand with Him, He will "NEVER leave you, NOR forsake you".
.
Luke 12:12
"For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say."
.
Again, it is during that "same hour" when Satan is here, "the hour of temptation" when the Holy Spirit shall also be present and evident before men, that the 'unforgivable' sin can be committed.
Until then, stay yoked with Him and focused in His Word. Remain steadfast as a faithful laborer with Christ until the end of this age and He shall indeed confess your name before the angels.

These verses describe the 3rd Seal of Revelation chapter 6 which is the Black Horse of the Hidden Dynasty of the Economy, the one whose rider has a "pair of balances in his hand" and sells "a measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny (Rev. 6:5-6)".
.
Barley is poor man's wheat and a "penny" at the time of this writing was actually a day's wages. Our Father wants us to be keenly aware of this injustice and corruption of the markets and the economic captivity in these last days.

Amos 8:4-5
[4] "Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,"

[5] "Saying, 'When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?'"

What is being said here is that the fat-cats impatiently lie awake all night long devising ways to increase their profits and rip people off deceitfully and dishonestly, i.e. by falsifying the balances.
Waiting for the sabbath to be over reminds of the time when we Baby Boomers were young children and retail stores and markets in this nation were all closed on Sundays.
No more!
Those days are GONE!

Amos 8:6
"That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?"
.
Those who have gotten high and rule over us have made economic slaves of our people as we discussed in lesson 3.
When you realize what is left of our day's pay after taxes and usury are taken out, there is not much left with which to buy that "refuse of wheat" they dare call bread". A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny (Rev. 6:5-6)".
How True, how True!

Amos 8:7
"The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works."
.
The time is coming when all shall reap what they have sown. The LORD has not forgotten the false glory (excellency) and the evil works that have taken place in this nation. There is only one way that bad works and evil deeds can be forgiven and erased and that is through 'repentance', through the Blood of the Lamb.
Seek the Lord GOD, and ye shall live!

Amos 8:8
"Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt."

You tell me, the LORD says!
If you can see the injustice and the vile corruption going on in our nation as described in verses 4-7 then the question is;
"Shall not the land (i.e. the inhabitants of the land) tremble for this?
Shall not everyone mourn that dwelleth therein and get what they deserve?"
.
Well, they shall and it shall overflow the whole land like the flood of the Nile.
.
Amos 8:9
"And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:"
.
Yes, the land shall tremble when our Father brings "the end upon His people Israel".
Heed the warning now!
Sound the alarm, there are baskets of summer fruit before us and the end draweth nigh.
The prophet Joel speaks of this trembling of the land and the day darkness and gloominess:

Joel 2:1-2
[1] "Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;"
.
[2] "A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations."
.
There is going to be a great shake-up real soon and many Christians who think they are in 'good standing' and sing songs in church about being taken away in some rapture are going to be devastated and so ashamed when they realize what harlots they have become and how they have allowed themselves to be seduced by the false messiah. Their wedding and rapture party will be over and the day shall turn to mourning and lamentation.

We do not glory in their loss or their shame for they are our brethren who simply do not have eyes to see the great deception of these end times. Nevertheless, it will not be a happy time for many Christians.

Amos 8:10
"And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day."
.
Those foolish virgins who attended the Beth-els of Amaziah and his contemporaries who graduated from men's seminaries and taught them the traditions of men, shall be ashamed to face the True Bridegroom (Rev. 6:16).
.
Finally, in this 8th chapter of the Book of Amos, verse 11, in the Old Testament of all places, we have come to the verse that fully explains what the 'famine' of the end time - which Christ talked about in Mat. 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21- is.
.
We need also understand that this is no longer prophecy and that we are right now in the midst of that great famine!

Amos 8:11
"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:"
.
You know, a loving person who SEES his or her own people dying from starvation would naturally give them food to eat if they had some, wouldn't they?
.
Are you familiar with the parable in Matthew 25:31-46? God's people of the house of Israel are basically well fed and have plenty to drink in this country and yet while they gather food for the homeless and needy (a good work for sure), they themselves are starving and dying of thirst,
.
NOT for bread or for water, but of HEARING THE WORDS OF THE LORD!

Are you able to help any of them, to feed them bread and meat from His Word, or give them to drink from His well of Living Water, or even just show them where the plumbline is?
.

Sadly, our people are not mentally nor spiritually prepared to face the supernatural
entering in of Satan and his angels when they are cast out of heaven to this earth (Rev. 12:7-9).

There shall be a time when the last grain of sand runs out of the final hour glass in this generation and we will see the appearance of the little horn, Satan, the false Messiah, the "abomination of desolation", come stand in the holy place claiming to be God.
One thing is more certain in life than death and taxes, and that is our Father's Word.
It is written and, as the angel told Daniel, it is True!

As we read earlier, the whole world will be mesmerized and overflown (swept away) with the false messiah's flood of lies and deceits and not only that, he will possess great credentials to multiply the deception with his ability to perform "miracles in the sight of men", like commanding fire (lightning) to fall from heaven (Rev. 13:13) .
.
Many of us have grown up with the concept of Satan as an evil-appearing man running around in a little red suit carrying a three-pronged pitch fork, and thus we'd be able to spot this 'wicked one' in a crowd anywhere.
But such is not the case, for if you read of the beauty and charm and wisdom of this charismatic one in Ezekiel 28 you will then understand how it is that the people of this world, including the majority of Christianity, will love him when he arrives.
That is because they will see him as "an angel of light" (2 Cor. 11:14), even as the Messiah, and not as a wicked evil one, i.e. Satan.
.
Furthermore, they will marvel when he heals the deadly wound to the New Word Order and ushers in world peace, though it be only temporary.
He will also fix everybody's bank account and grant more entitlements to the people of the world than any leader before him in the history of mankind.
And we have seen "in type" in this final generation that character and Truth does not matter to many near as much as, "It's the economy, stupid!"
We have also seen in type how that those who work deceitfully, utterly despise those rascally men and women of God, those "bruisers" who are wise to their ways of deceit and flattery, and who expose their evil deeds by shining the light of Truth on them.
Yes, the great tribulation of these last days will be a time of "globalization" and "peace and prosperity", NOT a time of world wars and rumors of world wars (Mat. 24:6-7).
As we have learned already in this great Book of Daniel, Satan, the false-christ, enters in "prosperously and peaceably" and simply takes the kingdom because the world will believe that Messiah has come.
So let us continue with our study, keeping in mind that we are now reading about events yet future when the vile person, the little horn, i.e. the false messiah, is present defacto.

Remember we concluded our speculations and overlays of the events leading up to the sound of the 6th Trump, which is the entering in of the vile person, when we got to verse 21.
We learned that up to that appointed time, all of man's attempts at peace treaties and covenants came to naught, but the "vile person", the false messiah, the "religious beast" of Revelation 13 will be able to achieve it.

Daniel 11:23
"And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people."
.
Don't think for one minute just because the false messiah enters in and heals the deadly wound and establishes a covenant of peace that everything is now fine and dandy, for his flood of lies and deceits will have just begun.
.
Furthermore,
he will be willingly aided by the small or "little people" who are the sons of Cain, the Kenites.
You could call them chips off the old "little horn" for they are the "bad figs" of Jeremiah 24 and the "tares" of Matthew 13, i.e. Satan's own grand-children.
Notice also that the Hebrew word translated "people" in this verse is "gowy", which figuratively means "a flight of locusts", even as these Kenites are the foot soldiers of that locust army that comes against our people.

Apparently from the same root as H1465 (in the sense of massing); a foreign nation; hence a Gentile; also (figuratively) a troop of animals, or a flight of locusts: - Gentile, heathen, nation, people.
Here again is how the vile person, the little horn, enters in.

Daniel 11:24
"He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time."
.
Remember that this will be a time of "spiritual trouble" such as never was nor ever shall be (Dan. 12:1).
.
Again, antichrist will do something no other leader or predecessor has ever done.
He is going to provide (scatter among the people) the ultimate entitlement programs of peace, security, and prosperity such as the world has never seen.
As the saying goes, he is going to provide "a chicken in the pot" for everyone...
every one who will follow after him
and "love him" that is!
Do you have a price?
Will he be able to buy your loyalty by paying off all your debts?

Remember it is written that the old dragon, that religious beast of Rev. 13:11, will exercise all the power of the 'first' beast, the One World System, i.e. the New World Order, which means he is going to have "a well oiled machine" that he will interweave throughout the world against all strong holds, even until the end of the age.

Daniel 11:25
"And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him."
.
Remember that this takes place after the sound of the 6th Trump, when the little horn, has arrived.
That is why this king of the south cannot be found in history...
because it is yet future from now.
The point is though, there shall be a great army of people belonging to the king of the south, but "he shall not stand", i.e. will make no stand against the leadership of Satan and his own little people who shall "forecast devices",
as in fabricate lies and deceit, against him.
In fact, the only ones who shall "stand" in that day are God's elect, who we shall read of a few verses hence.

The next verse helps explain why the king shall not make a stand.
.
Daniel 11:26
"Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain."
.
You "see", the king of the south doesn't have a prayer of a chance in taking a stand against the little horn because his own people will fall before the false messiah, as in, be 'taken in' by the flood of deception and those devices forecast against them.
.
This is all part of the great "spiritual" desolation that shall take place by the overflowing army of Satan.
.
Daniel 11:27
"And both these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed."
.
We sure have seen examples of "kings" lying to one another at one table lately, haven't we, e.g. think, the UN security council?
.
Nevertheless, our Father's Plan concerning the time of the end shall come to pass "exactly" as it is written, which means that the whole world will be deceived by the false messiah...
with the exception of those who have "the seal of God" in their foreheads.
.
Daniel 11:28
"Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land."
.
Don't make this complicated for it is not.
Remember from our reading of Revelation 12:13-15, that Satan, the old dragon, called "the vile person and the little horn" here in Daniel, comes after and persecutes 'the woman', representing Christianity, i.e. those who keep the holy Covenant by believing in Jesus Christ.
.
And as it is written, the vile person, who is the son of perdition, shall do exploits which means he will act effectively, as in be very successful, in spreading his spiritual desolations which cause the great "falling away" spoken of by Paul in 2 Thes. 2:3.
And let no man deceive you by any means!
This he shall do BEFORE Jesus Christ returns and we gather back to Him at the sound of the 7th (and final) Trump.

2 Thessalonians 2:3
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition."

Daniel 11:29
"At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter."
.
Satan shall return after accomplishing his great "exploits" but now all of a sudden things don't run as smoothly as before and they begin to go awry because he encounters a big, big problem...
God's elect, the "bruisers" of the serpent, the servants of True King of kings and Lord of lords!
Wouldn't you just love to be part of that magnificent army of God?
Stay True to your Father's Word and keep the gospel armor on and in place, and YOU CAN BE a champion of your people!

Daniel 11:30
"For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant."

What is it that gives the false messiah so much grief to the point he becomes indignant?
Actually the same thing that makes all liberals indignant...
Truth and righteousness!
They can't stand men and women of God who expose their evil deeds and shine the light of Truth upon their wicked ways!
Yes, that old dragon becomes extremely wroth with God's elect who give him a spiritual thumping and bruising to the point that it causes him to breath fire from his nostrils (figuratively speaking).

If you check out the phrase "the ships of Chittim" in Hebrew you will find it means "the appointed bruisers".

Chittim or Kittim = “Bruisers"
1) a general term for all islanders of the Mediterranean Sea
2) the descendants of Javan, the son of Japheth and grandson of Noah

Did you know it was prophesied from the very beginning, way back in Genesis chapter 3, that the woman's seed would bruise the head of the serpent, that old dragon?

Genesis 3:14-15
[14] "And the LORD God said unto the serpent, "Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:""
.
These are idiomatic statements of 'degradation' in Hebrew simply stating in "figurative" language that Satan would always be "a low life", or as we would say one who is "lower than a snakes belly"!

Genesis 3:15
"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."
.
Christ's heel was bruised at His crucifixion by the seed of the serpent, the children of Cain, but it shall be the good seed, or the children of God that shall be the appointed "bruisers", the ships of Chittim in these last days.
.
In other words, while the whole world, even great armies of people like we read about earlier, shall all bow to the "false messiah" and no king will therefore be able to make a stand.
God's elect are not taken in by his miracles and overflowing deception but rather they step forward and "take a stand" against the fiery darts of the wicked one (Eph. 6), that old dragon.
Of course we know that it will be the "Stone cut out without hands", i.e. Jesus Christ, that will ultimately smash and destroy him, but God's elect will "knock him around" and "kick his dragon derriere" for "a time".
Satan is going to wine and dine anyone who is willing to be swayed,
including those who shall betray their sons and daughters and loved ones by delivering them up to him.
They will deliver them up to him because they will believe he is Christ!

Let's return to Daniel and continue to read and learn about Satan and how he has intelligence with (i.e. instructs) his little people (those who forsake the covenant), i.e. the locust army.

The Holy Bible states that the "House of Israel"
would be scattered north of the River Euphrates (I Kings 14:15).

This promise was fulfilled when, from 745-721 B.C., All Ten Tribes were taken captive and driven by the Assyrians into the Caucasus region between the Black and Caspian Seas.

But not only the Ten Tribes of The "House of Israel"
Assyria also took many from the other Two Tribes when they took all the fenced cities of The "House of Judah."

ll Kings 18:13
"Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them."

II Kings 18:13 Makes it clear that much of the House of 'Judah' was also taken by Assyria and most likely went with the House of
'Israel' over the Caucasus Mountains when Babylon overthrew Assyria!

That means it was only those in and around Jerusalem, who were left of the House of "Judah" for Nebuchadnezzor to carry into Babylon 135 years later.
.
It is this group of Israelites after mixing with descendants of Cain (Kenites) while in Babylon that we now call Jews, and who later, in 740 A.D. mixed with the Khazar empire (another group of Kenites) who now populate the tiny country in the middle east called Israel today.
(II Kings 17:6 ; 18:9-11).

Hosea 2:6 says,
"...I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall that she shall not find her paths."

In this verse, wasn't God was making it clear that the Israelites were not to return to Palestine?

Where did they go?
.
Are they lost forever?
.
Are the people of the United States, the British Nations,
and Northwestern European nations mentioned in Bible prophecies?
.
These nations became, in the past two centuries, the wealthiest nations, and potentially at least, the most powerful.
They possessed, at their height of power,
almost three fourths of all the wealth and resources of the world.
All other nations, combined, had little more than a fourth divided among them. And they acquired nearly all of it since AD 1800.
Never has there been anything like it in history.
Never did a people spread out and grow so rapidly to wealth and power.
Never were a people so rich.

Who was it that told you such a thing and where did they get that idea?

It is precisely because some of the Thessalonians believed that the day of the Lord was at hand, as do so many believers in the pre-trib Rapture Theory today, that Paul wrote this second letter to "straighten them out" on this urgent matter!

It is EXTREMELY important that Christians understand the "chronological order of events", which are about to take place, because as Paul will make clear to even the simplest reader, there is a "supernatural one" coming first, BEFORE Jesus Christ returns, and he will look just like the Messiah, and he will call himself Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately, those who are expecting the return of Jesus Christ at any moment will surely believe the second advent has taken place because they "don't know" there are two Jesus Christs, the real one and the imposter who is called in Scripture "anti-christos".
"Anti" means "instead of" as in "a substitute".

In today's exciting study we are going to discover what the Word of God says concerning the second advent as we begin to carefully examine chapter two of Paul's second letter to the Thessalonians.
However before we begin, take a moment and carefully consider the words the great scholar E.W. Bullinger wrote in his Introductory to "How to Enjoy the Bible", Kregel Publications, pg. 6.

"When we come to ask ourselves, and say, 'Where did I learn this?' 'How did I get this?' 'Who taught this to me?' it is astonishing to find out how much we have absorbed from man, and from tradition; and not directly and for ourselves, from the Word of God.
"All that we have learned from our youth up "must" be tested and proved by the Word of God. Where we find it is True we must learn it over again, from God. And where it will not stand the test of His Word we must be not only content, but thankful to give it up; and receive Divine revelation in the place of man's imagination."

Now carefully consider the Word of God.

2 Thessalonians 2:1
"Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him,"

We've just been "beseeched"!
Do you know what that means?
It means that Paul is imploring us not to do something concerning the subjects of "the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering unto Him".

Here is what he begs us not to do:

[2] "That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand."

You better not be "wishy washy" about this subject or have any doubts whatsoever when it is that we gather back to Jesus Christ!

Furthermore, there is no need to be ignorant concerning our gathering back because Paul "spells it out" in real simple terms in this chapter.

They were not much different than the problems confronting Christian's today concerning His return.
You see, the "MANY" whom Christ said in Mat. 24 and Mark 13 "would be deceived" by the words of false teachers in these last days, are continually fed a "vision" of a mentally disturbed woman who claimed her vision was a "revelation" of the spirit.
Today it is called the Rapture "Theory" and lately it has been promoted very heavily among Christians on Radio, TV, in "book after book", and now in full length Motion pictures such as "Left Behind".
I recently saw a very prominent Christian preacher on a nationally televised talk show tell the host of the program that at any time during that interview Jesus Christ could return and snatch him right out of his seat!
Well, I'm sorry!
That was simply A LIE, whether spoken intentionally or not!
Hopefully the man is just sorely deceived in his own Biblical illiteracy.
Either way though, he has perpetuated a big dangerous lie!
How so?
We are going to find out.

With just a little research at your local library you can easily trace the origin of the Rapture Theory back to Glasgow, Scotland, to the year 1830 when a lady named Margaret MacDonald saw a "vision" whereby all of a sudden the Lord descends in the clouds and calls His saints to rise up and meet Him in the air. Start with the book "The Incredible Cover-up", by Dave MacPherson. You can then trace this Rapture Theory's entry into this nation, even identifying the group that brought it here, and chart its infiltration into the majority of our churches today.

Those who support this any-moment Rapture Theory rely heavily on the two verses of 1 Thes. 4:16-17 to support their theory.
However, we have already documented that the events of vs. 16-17 occur at the "last Trump" (the 7th), which is The Day of The Lord and the first day of the Millennium.

Paul continues in verse 3 with an even more direct statement:

2 Thessalonians 2:3
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;"
.
Remember, the subject being addressed here, is the return of Jesus Christ and when it is we gather back to Him!
That is certainly easy enough for anyone to understand.
But the really hard part of this verse for people to come to grips with is the "Let no man deceive you by any means" part!
Perhaps your minister or pastor is a really nice man with a lovely family and you know him to be sincere and conscientious and one who would not purposely lead you astray.
And that may all be True but will you consider that perhaps "he has blindly followed after the traditional teachings of the church", which have the appearance of being good, just as you have followed after him?
Think about it!

The point Paul is making is;
"PLEASE, DO NOT let anyone tell you in any way, shape, or form that the day of Christ is at hand, i.e. that Jesus Christ can return at any moment!
They are "in the dark", void of accurate Biblical knowledge, and they will be caught off guard, caught sleeping, when the True Messiah returns.
You see, whether a man is pope, bishop, elder, preacher, teacher, pastor, minister, deacon, usher, author, televangelist, or the paperboy, we have been instructed to CHECK OUT what that man says, in "The Word of God".

Remember Paul said to
"Prove all things; hold fast that which is good"
- (1Thessalonians 5:21).

Well, Paul was not, neither did he believe he was, nor did he attempt to, exempt himself from the "proving and the testing".
It is written in Acts 17 that those rascally Bereans checked him and Silas out real good, every day!

Acts 17:10
"And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews."

[11] "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."

Imagine that!
They had the NERVE to check out what the apostle Paul himself taught them.

The question one should then ask is;
"Is there anyone greater than the apostle Paul today that we should exempt from accountability to the Word of God?"
Forget whether they are nice guys or good folks or popular among the people or followed by millions.
Do YOUR "homework" and believe the Scriptures!

If a teacher does not encourage you to study on your own (2 Tim. 2;15) or if that teacher is offended that you document whether his words fully align with the Scriptures, then, find another teacher.
No True servant of God will ever ask you to believe him or her apart from Documentation in the Word of God.

Acts 17:12
"Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few."
.
They SAW for themselves, that "it was so" in the Word of God and for that reason many of them "believed"... not because Paul or Silas said so... but the Word of God said so!
.
So Paul has now specifically told us in verse 3 that TWO THINGS must happen BEFORE we gather back to Jesus Christ.
(I would say that IF THOSE two things HAVE NOT happened yet, then, you are NOT going to be plucked out of your seat, are you?)
.
What are those two things?
There must "first" come 'a falling away' and the "man of sin", who is the son of perdition, must be revealed.
Who is this "man of sin", this "son of perdition"?
.
The word Greek word for "perdition" is a derivative of "apollumi" which means to fully destroy, i.e. die, perish:
apollumi, ap-ol'-loo-mee, Greek 622; from Greek 575 (apo) and the base of Greek 3639 (olethros);
to destroy fully (reflexive to perish, or lose), literal or figurative :- destroy, die, lose, mar, perish.

The active participle of "apollumi" is "Appollyon" which is Satan's name in Revelation 9:11.
.
You see, there has only ever been 'one' son who has been sentenced "to perish" in the lake of fire and that one son is the man of sin himself, Satan, the Devil, the Great Red Dragon, the soon coming Antichrist.
.
Judgment for everyone else, unless you are part of the First Resurrection, has been scheduled for the time following the Millennium known as,
The Great White Throne Judgment.

"Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God."

Isaiah 14:12
"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!"

[13] "For thou hast said in thine heart, 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:'"

[14] "I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High".

This same "abominable one" will be cast from heaven to this earth (Rev. 12:7-9) at the sound of the 6th Trump, which comes before our gathering back at the 7th Trump (the last one).

The 6th Trump is when Michael "stands up" (Dan. 12:1) and the "time of trouble" (spiritual trouble) begins, "such as never was since a nation was born nor ever shall be again." (Mat. 24:21)
.
Satan as antichrist, the false messiah, will once again exalt himself above God and he will sit in the temple, just as Paul explained in verse 4, and "claim" that he is God, i.e. the Messiah who has come to rapture you away.
.
Jesus Christ also told us in Mat. 24 and Mark 13 about this "abominable one" who shall come before His return, and when he does,
stay away from him!

Matthew 24:15
"When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)"

[16] "Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:"
.
Students of the book of Daniel (i.e. those who read it with understanding) know that this is the "desolator", the little horn, the vile person, which are ALL names of Satan.

He will not only deceive the whole world with a display of power and signs and lying wonders but he causes the great 'falling away', the great apostasy, when the majority of Christians begin to worship him as Jesus.
