Health care workers have been working with and through COVID for 2/3rd�s of 2020. Everyone is over wearing masks; and those of us who are wearing them at work unless we are eating or taking a drink are definitely over it. True they do not protect you. YES, they protect others. I beg you to wear a mask in public. My unit is short staffed, exhausted (as most people are), and tonight I took some OTC meds to healthy young friends of mine to help them cope with the symptoms of this virus. PLEASE I�M BEGGING YOU TO HELP PROTECT THE HEALTH CARE WORKERS who also need to stop and get gas, go to the grocery store, and pick their kiddos up from school. We�d really appreciate your help. Please remember to be kind and safe in this unforgiving time. ??
Was my response too cold-hearted? It was:
I am relieved & hopeful that this virus has a 99% recovery rate, that the abundance of people who test positive have no clue they have the virus & never have a symptom. I am grateful there are proven therapies to relieve symptoms & help healing. But a bit confused about all the false positives. Happy that the death statistics nation-wide are within the norms of every other previous year for the past 10 years. There is acceptable risk in all our lives. Someday I will tell you about mine if you are interested and why driving a car, skiing, motor-biking or pretty much playing any sport will always be a risk to me. Do I have the right to ask others not to be on the road when I (or the 100s of thousands like me), are driving? Is it reasonable to never put myself in the position to take a blow to my chest (& make me bleed out in seconds)? No. It is not emotional, it is logical. I do hope you & other medical & healthcare workers stay healthy. Since I am also a healthcare worker.
