Finish your Race.
I turned on the television the other afternoon and watched some of the Daytona 500. As is with most races, they have someone who gets the pole position meaning they ran the fastest in qualifying and start first.
I watched a while then tuned back into some hours later and as I was looking for something else I noticed the race was near the end and was down to about 7 or laps when there was a major wreck that took out they said 18 of the 30 vehicles.
Most of them were able to finish the race.
A couple of things came to mind:
Many of the ones who started first or near the top never made it to the end.
Same with our Christian walk.
Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
The Bible doesn’t give prizes to the swiftest. Greatest, smartest, or any of that but to the person that endureth to the end the same shall be saved.
The drivers battled back and forth for almost 500 miles without knowing who would win until the very last lap. The favorite never finished because of the accident.
Let me encourage you to run the race that is set before you. Be steady.. be strong.. and focused on the finish line.
I’m reminded of Apostle Paul who endured much trouble spent time in prison, was threatened throughout his ministry and said 2 Timothy 4:6-8
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
The race is set before us Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
