View MoreToday, our nation pauses to mark 25 years since the tragic events of September 11, 2001. A quarter-century has passed, but the loss, the bravery, and the solemn weight of that morning remain deeply etched into the heart of America.
As we honor the #NeverForget pledge and remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, we also pause to remember September 11, 2012. Eleven years after 9/11, our nation suffered another painful loss during the attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound and CIA annex in #Benghazi, Libya, where four brave Americans—Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone S. Woods, and Glen Doherty—lost their lives defending our country.
On this day of reflection, we honor all our fallen citizens, our courageous first responders who ran toward danger, and the heroes who stood in the gap to defend liberty both at home and abroad (As well as keeping their surviving loved ones in our hearts and minds). May we continue to seek truth, preserve our freedom, and ensure that the legacy of those we lost is never forgotten.
