View MoreFederal Education Minister JASON CLARE speaks out on literacy, https://amp.smh.com.au/national/nsw/we-need-a-reading-revolution-schools-urged-to-chase-more-ambitious-targets-20240209-p5f3rz.html Federal Education Minister, JASON CLARE has told NSW STATE EDUCATION, teachers will need to be retrained in PHONICS (the science of sounding out WORDS) to teach our children HOW TO READ. WHY have we fallen out with our CORRICULLUM? WHY are our children ILLITERATE? IS it because of the obsession with our iPhones or is it IR? BOTH discourage READING, 'SIRI' on those same phones, have the option to READ the ARTICLE and it does, at the push of a button. SO, faced with a written test, all students will not have the same alternatives as their PHONES. We already have PHONICS in our curriculum BUT most of the younger teachers have not had the training or the opportunity to learn themselves, before THEY CAN TEACH OTHERS. WHY have the TEACHER's UNION pushed our STATE GOVERNMENT and TAX PAYERS for higher wages and conditions, when obviously there were already rumblings in the TEACHER's ASSOCIATION for GRADING of all teachers. HERE is a quick stop-gap until we can teach our teachers/children to READ in school, each night before the KIDS go to BED, send them with a BOOK to READ to their grand-parents or YOU before you turn off the lights, it worked a few years earlier when the ROLLS were reversed, the old ones mainly overlooked, will correct them on the words they can't pronounce and it will BOND/GEL the family group, when KIDS believe they are giving back to help granny READ, g/parents will LOVE it too, I know I do. My grandchildren would bring their favourite book to read each visit. TURN OFF the TELEVISION, take away their phones and like a magic wand, 'HEY PRESTO', they are your children don't leave it to others to teach them the BASICS! ‘Failing to see 50 years of evidence’: Noel Pearson slams inquiry-based learning. It will help ALL our CHILDREN, even our INDIGENOUS!
