This is just one of those situations that underscores how easy it is look at something completely differently based on what you value.
Without getting into the whole PA gubberment run milk marketing board price fixing thing... a can of worms I certainly don't want to crack open... The local dairy I buy from sells whole, non-homogenized, pasteurized milk. (Yes, it has all that good stuff that is probably bad for you.) Local family, and you can walk a few feet from their little store and say hello to the actual cows the milk came from. There is nothing on the supermarket shelf that is a comparable product, so there is no reasonable way to compare price. You either value the quality of the product, or you value the quantity of the product.
A lot of things in life are like that... quality or quantity. I tend to always land on the quality side of the debate. Oh well.
Anywho, if you find yourself in the Mon-Valley area, check the dairy out. Harmony Acres (run by the Orr family) intersection of Harmony Church and Perryopolis Roads, Belle Vernon PA.

Ok, so now the official party line is "the gun just went off". I see where this is going now, blame the manufacturer and absolve yourself of any guilt.
I, for one, don't buy it for a second. Couple of reasons:
First and foremost, you don't point a firearm at someone unless you intend to shoot them. No, really, it is just that simple. That is the top safety rule in just about any gun safety course. It is the last line of defense to keep you from being stupid. How do we know he didn't obey this rule? Well, there is a dead person who shouldn't be. Strike One.
Second, It was his responsibility to know the firearm was loaded with live ammunition. That is another important safety rule that gets regularly stuffed into the head of anyone who handles firearms. You never take anyone's word for it. Somebody hands you a weapon, you clear it yourself to be sure the ammunition is out. By his own admission he didn't do this. Strike two.
And last, he claims he didn't pull the trigger. He was monkeying around with the hammer and it just went boom. Ahem. Very unlikely. Is there a chance the sear was broken or modified? Yes, a very very slim chance that happened. It will be easy enough to prove or disprove when the pistol is dismantled and inspected by whomever the Santa Fe PD has for this kind of work. It isn't rocket science. The Single Action Army revolver is a robust and well understood design. Anyone who is interested in the detailed nuts and bolts of how it works, I suggest Jerry Kuhnhausen's book "The Colt Single Action Revolvers vol 1 & 2." It is more a manual for gunsmiths, but it is just about everything you might want to know about how it works.
Suffice to say, I doubt it just broke. A more realistic explanation is that he was holding the trigger down while playing with the hammer.... essentially, the firearm did exactly what it was supposed to do under those conditions. Can't really claim it was defective when it works exactly how it was designed to work. Strike Three.
Oh well, the media meat-puppets are working overtime to give one of their buddies a pass.

One thing I noticed was how many elected offices were uncontested or had no candidate on the ballot at all. So, the way I see it, those could have been easy wins for anyone with a conservative streak who was willing to just get on the ballot.
I suggest anyone reading this to do a little homework before the next election cycle. See if the elected position being put up for grabs is something you could do. If so, then get your name on the damn ballot. You may end up loosing the election, or actually sucking at the job, but you can't do much worse than the status quo we currently have.
I would also challenge the local republican leadership. Start hunting down people to put on the ballot. Stop letting the uncontested elections slip by.

The DA in Santa Fe NM had better not let Alec Baldwin skate away on this. This idiot has blood on his hands and should be made an example of. He is not just some hapless innocent, he is part of the management of the company, so he is responsible for the conduct of those who work for him in addition to his own conduct.
As the last person to handle the firearm, and actually fired it at another person, he is also the one who should have checked it for ammunition in the cylinder. It doesn't matter who else "checked" it before him. He was responsible for checking it himself. It was also his responsibility for making sure his employees also handled the arms and ammunition with the proper care and respect demanded.
This whole "prop gun" narrative is a bunch of BS and downright insulting to anyone with the most basic understanding of handling firearms. This isn't rocket science. This is a bunch of people who make a buck on creating make-believe getting bit in the ass by reality.

Whenever the media attempts to speak with authority on the subject of firearms, they never disappoint low expectations. Case in point, several outlets I've seen describe the revolver used to kill someone last week as being a "F LEE Pietta". Just shows how little research they are willing to do on a story before allowing the meat puppets to spout off.
Ahem. No you putzes, the company's name is F. LLi Pietta. A family company formed in the 1960's in Italy by Giuseppe Pietta. The "F.LLI" is an Italian abbreviation for Fratelli, so the company's actual name is Fratelli Pietta (or in English "Pietta Brothers".) And they actually make pretty darn good reproductions of antique/historical firearms, if my Pietta made Remington New Army Model revolver is a typical example of their products.
Oh well. Can't expect much from the media. They could have demonstrated (or at least faked) some basic understanding of what they were talking about by using the company's correct name. Or, just used the common name of "Pietta" which is what everyone else uses. (Just like using "Colt" instead of the entire "Colt Patent Fire-Arms Manufacturing Company" )
