View MoreI am so tired of hearing about the abysmal conditions at the Capitol and lack thereof of leadership engagement during said insurrection. Now we have the running all of the white extremists out of the army.
Where was/has been all of this concentration of leadership as our sister soldiers are constantly being raped/sexually harassed, etc... and you see no traction at all about this plague that harms women every day in the military. What's worse is 95 percent of the time these issues are not properly addressed. Where are the better systems to take care of the female soldiers, sailors, marines, and airwomen. Spc. Vanesa Guillen, 20, finally opened some eyes, but now with this white supremacy which hunt its going to get put on the back burner again.
Something needs to be developed to better protect our women and make reporting easier and less hostile to the victim. The entire 24 years I was in the Army I never witnessed any discrimination to black soldiers. If there had been that would have been dealt with swiftly and promptly by members of the unit.
Meanwhile while at Fort Hood in 96-99 there should have been much more scrutiny about black gang violence on post and around post. It was a disaster. Pizza guys were getting pistol whipped in the COSCOM area nightly. The COSCOM was out of control then. I wonder how many sexual assaults happened there that went unreported for fear of reprisals. Sexual assault and harassment should be a zero tolerance policy, like a General Order we are all so fond of when deploying downrange. At the conclusion of the court martial these predators need to be put on the sex offender registry and given a BCD on the way out to Leavenworth.SHARP trained Soldiers need not be handcuffed to report these incidents. according to the Stars and stripes"Rates of sexual assault and harassment reports in the military have increased since last year, according to a Pentagon report released Thursday."
"The Defense Departments fiscal year 2019 report on sexual assault in the military said there were 7,825 sexual assault reports involving service members as victims or subjects, a 3% increase compared to 2018. The increase in reports cant be characterized as an increase in assaults, according to the Pentagon, because a separate survey on prevalence is only conducted every other year."
"The reports that are restricted, where survivors confidentially disclose an assault without starting an official investigation, saw a 17% increase from last year, with 2,126 reports. The increase shows a clear lack of faith in the chain of command, Protect Our Defenders said in a statement about the report. The organization supports and advocates for service members who have been sexually assaulted."
"The military received 1,021 formal sexual harassment complaints, a 10% increase from 2018."
