Democrats have one answer for every shooting. Pass another gun law.Never mind that the person pulling the trigger already broke a dozen laws to get there.This cartoon nails it. If someone is willing to commit murder, why on earth would they obey one more gun law?The Justice Department already answered this. In a survey of prison inmates who had a gun during their crime, 90% did not get it from a store or other retail source. The biggest share, 43%, got it off the street or on the black market. Less than 1% bought it at a gun show.Criminals don't run background checks. They don't sit out waiting periods. They don't care about magazine limits.So who actually pays the price for gun control? You do. The law-abiding citizen who just wants to protect his family.Every new restriction leaves good people a little more defenseless, and leaves the bad guys exactly as armed as before.Democrats have seen these numbers. My guess is they just don't care, because the real goal is something more insidious.The Founders understood it. An armed people can defend itself against criminals, and against a government that forgets who it works for. A disarmed people can't do either.Want to see where that road leads? Look at England.Britain banned most handguns back in 1997. In 2023, police in England and Wales made more than 12,000 arrests over online messages, about 33 a day.This spring, police arrested the founder of a group that puts up Union Jacks and St. George's crosses, on suspicion of racially aggravated harassment. Birmingham's council went to court seeking an injunction that could jail people for up to two years for flying the national flag from lampposts.That's what happens when a government stops fearing its own people.The Second Amendment isn't about duck hunting.
