The District Attorney just offered me a plea bargain. One of the terms is payment of U.S. $2,000 to Ridglan Farms, the "victim". Over my dead body! No way I'm paying those puppy torturers for the loss of what they regard as a piece of inventory.
I'd rather go to prison.
Better yet, I'd rather a jury agree that the defence of necessity--the same principle that allows you to break down your neighbour's fence and enter his property without permission in order to save his child drowning in his backyard pool--permits people to rescue dogs from criminal abuse.
