Major problems are hitting north Texas as H-1B families abandon homes and cars after losing their jobs.More than 10 families in Celina and Melissa, just north of Dallas, reportedly lost their positions, bought one-way tickets back to their home countries, and left their houses, cars, and furniture behind. They could not sell because values in some neighborhoods dropped almost $100,000 and they could not cover the mortgage, leaving the properties empty and sliding toward foreclosure.Under H-1B rules, workers have 60 days to find a new sponsor after a layoff or they must leave the country. Collin County home prices are down 9% year over year, and Celina is sitting on 50 months of lot supply. One builder said sales to South Asian buyers fell from 70% to under 30%, with 125 unsold homes remaining.
