In a major European city, Algerian flags fly beside Palestinian ones, communist banners, and even a Surinamese flag. The flag of the host nation is nowhere to be seen among the large crowd gathered on the monument.
This is the predictable result when newcomers retain their primary loyalty to other countries or causes. Public spaces stop reflecting a shared national identity and become stages for foreign grievances instead. National symbols fade because the culture that once produced them has already been diluted.
America cannot follow this path. Anyone who comes here must embrace our flag, our laws, and our way of life as their own. If we allow other banners to dominate our streets, we will lose the unity that holds this country together. Our future depends on keeping America first.
