13. But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, 2 Thessalonians 2:13; KJV. In chapter three, Paul asks believers to pray that God's Word will spread and that God's servants will be protected. He reminds them that the Lord is faithful and will strengthen them. Paul then addresses those who had become idle, teaching that Christians should work responsibly and not become busybodies. He encourages faithful believers not to grow weary in doing good and concludes with a prayer for Christ's peace and grace. In today's verse, Paul expresses his thanks to God for the faithful believers, acknowledging that they are beloved and chosen for salvation. God's plan was from the beginning, first choosing and then sanctifying by the Spirit all who believe in the gospel, trusting it as essential to salvation. We are assured of salvation through the Son of God, Jesus, despite trials and false teaching from those who reject the truth. Practical application for life: pray for God's work, trust God, let God direct your life, do not get tired of doing good, God sees your faithfulness, and seek Christ's peace, as it is available in every circumstance. Lessons learned: pray for the spread of the gospel, honest work pleases God, do not be idle, encourage others, Christ provides lasting peace, and God's grace sustains believers. Amen.
