ELEVEN YEAR OLD KENTUCKY BOY SHOWS ADULTS WHAT REAL COURAGE LOOKS LIKEAn 11-year-old boy in Lexington, Kentucky, did what the grown men around him refused to do. When a man lay unconscious at the bottom of a 7-foot apartment pool in early July 2026, the adults stood around. Avory Woolery put on his goggles, dove in, and pulled the man up himself.Woolery told local reporters: “No one was doing anything, so I put on my goggles. I went underwater. I grabbed him up. There was no way that I was going to let another man die today. He’s a human being. He should be treated as such.”He later added: “Try and be the best person you can be whenever someone is in danger or someone just needs a friend.”The man was pulled to the deck where others started CPR until emergency crews arrived. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition. In August 2026, Kentucky lawmakers gave Woolery a Citation of Appreciation from the House of Representatives. He also met Governor Andy Beshear. This is what used to be normal. A kid who knows right from wrong acts when others freeze. No committee. No permission. Just a boy who decided a human life was worth more than waiting for someone else to move.Sources:WKYT NewsNew York PostFOX 56 NewsKentucky House of Representatives citation recordsStatements from Governor Andy BeshearLocal Lexington reporting from July and August 2026
