You're not imagining it.For years, plenty of Americans walked into their own bank and learned their money was fine. It was everything else about them that was the problem. Now we have the receipts. The federal regulator over national banks reviewed the nine biggest banks in America, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citibank and Wells Fargo. The finding was blunt. Every one of them ran policies between 2020 and 2023 that restricted or flagged customers in perfectly legal industries.Firearms. Oil and gas. Coal. Political action committees. Those years weren't random. That was the Biden era, when regulators leaned on something called "reputational risk." In plain English, a bank could treat you as a liability, not because you missed a payment, but because of what you sold, what you did, or what you believed.Gun shops. Energy companies. Conservative groups. Religious ministries that found their accounts shut down with little or no explanation. This wasn't a few rogue branch managers. The regulator said the same or similar policies showed up at every bank it checked. And the Biden administration let it ride. No crackdown. No accountability. The same government that lectured America about equity looked the other way while law-abiding citizens were sorted by viewpoint.Think about what banking really is. It's how you get paid, pay your mortgage, and make payroll. Cut someone off from that, and you can punish them without passing a law or winning an argument. That's exactly the kind of power the Founders feared, power that dodges the ballot box and works through the back door.So where's the outrage? Where are the prime time specials and front page investigations?Barely a whisper. If nine banks had done this to any group the media actually cares about, it would be the story of the decade.Have you or someone you know ever been dropped, flagged, or questioned by a bank for reasons that made no sense?
