She posted it in 2019. She posted it again in 2023. Clean. Moral. Ready for the headlines. Monday morning those words found her address. HSI was on the sidewalk in Washington before the coffee was done. A federal judge had signed the warrant. The Justice Department called it a judicially authorized search in an ongoing investigation. Boxes came out labeled seized property. Sources told Reuters and Fox the file is immigration fraud, tied in part to paperwork her late father filled out when she was a child. Allegation, not a verdict. A judge still had to see probable cause before the door opened. That is the part the slogan usually skips. Omar reached for the other slogan. “Weaponized. Political enemies. Baseless lies. I will not be silenced.” Trump said he had nothing to do with it and that it was up to the DOJ. Democrats discovered, three weeks before a midterm, that timing can be unkind. Former prosecutors noted the FBI usually handles a sitting member and that DOJ prefers not to do this close to an election. All fair questions. None of them erase the signature on the warrant. No one is above the law was a thrill when Jack Smith had the binder with Trump’s name on it. It is less thrilling when the binder has your immigration file and the agents are wearing HSI. The rule does not come with a rider for Minnesota’s 5th. It does not take a personal day for reelection. It does not mean everyone except the person who tweeted it. The case is still developing.
