Happy 100th Birthday to Winnie-the-Pooh 🎂
created by English author A. A. Milne and English illustrator E. H. Shepard.
Milne based the character on his son, Christopher Robin, and the boy's stuffed animals. The name "Winnie" came from a bear at the London Zoo, while "Pooh" was the name of a swan.
He first appeared in a 1925 story and is the main character in the books Winnie-the-Pooh (1926) and The House at Pooh Corner (1928). The character is known for his good-natured personality and his adventures with friends like Piglet, Eeyore, and Christopher Robin in the Hundred Acre Wood.
