The world of Jodi Harvey-Brown in her twenties, an American book sculptor from Pennsylvania . Jodi began book sculpting after being unable to resist a box of used books at a second-hand shop. After folding the pages of one that had been crushed in the bottom of the box, she was hooked. Each sculpture is a little more complicated than the one before it, and at times Jodi includes hand-illustrated figures, drawing was her first love. Her husband encouraged her to show her work via an artist community and it was there she realized book sculpture is a valid art form . “I have always loved art, and I have always loved to read. Books pull you into a new world, while art lets you see it. It made sense to me that these two mediums should come together. The books that we love to read should be made to come to life. Characters, that we care so much for, should come out of the pages to show us their stories. What we see in our imaginations as we read should be there for the world to see. My book sculptures are my way of making stories come alive. “. Each sculpture tells a different tale that is an innovative form of immersive experience . Moby Dick, Tom Sawyer and Alice in Wonderland are just some of the literary characters Harey-Brown has created using the pages of their own books. Jody makes unique commissions for people on Etsy - they start at £40 upwards . Here are 2 examples .
