On December 6, 2006, while embedding journalists in combat units in Al Anbar Province, an IED detonated under her Humvee. She, Army Captain Travis Patriquin, and Specialist Vincent Pomante all gave their lives. McClung was the highest-ranking female Marine kill*d in Operation Iraqi Freedom and the first Naval Academy woman graduate kill*d in action. Rest easy Hero 🇺🇸

Ruser was born on December 27, 1924, and served as a combat medic with the 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division during WWII. He landed in Normandy shortly after D-Day and treated wounded soldiers under fire across France and Germany. Jake Ruser's story is a powerful testament to the bravery of combat medics, who risked and often gave their lives to care for others under fire throughout WWIl. He lived to share his experiences with younger generations and was honored both in the U.S. and abroad for his service.
Thank you for your service Jake and Happy Birthday
