Governor Kathy Hochul marched in New York's Columbus Day Parade on Monday — and the crowd let her have it. Boos and thumbs-downs followed her up Fifth Avenue, and one paradegoer in an Italian-flag sash yelled: "Get out of New York. You're a disgrace," adding, "You hate Italians and Catholics."Others along the route taunted the governor as a communist. More than 35,000 people participated in the parade, billed as the world's largest Italian-American heritage celebration.Hochul later posted that she was honored to celebrate Italian culture — notably without saying the words "Columbus Day."Mayor Mamdani skipped the parade entirely, drawing his own firestorm from Italian-American groups.
