In an effort to improve traffic flow, Texas transportation officials have designed a new highway interchange that allows drivers to experience every stage of grief before reaching their exit.
The new interchange features 47 overpasses, 19 entrance ramps, 12 exits, and a full 360-degree loop for drivers who feel like they haven’t spent enough time in traffic.
Engineers say the design will significantly reduce congestion by keeping motorists so confused they eventually forget where they were going.
One driver reportedly entered the interchange Tuesday morning on his way to Whataburger and was last seen Thursday afternoon passing the same Whataburger for the sixth time.
Officials insist the project is completely safe and say the vertical loop is simply a new way to encourage drivers to maintain highway speeds.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2047, with additional lanes scheduled to begin construction in 2048.
TxDOT reminds motorists to plan ahead, remain patient, and remember that the left lane is still for passing, even when it’s upside down.
