The recent murder of a Japanese woman in Okinawa reminds me of the true story of "Nigger Cave 黒ん坊がま."
After the Battle of Okinawa in July 1945, villagers killed three African-American Marines after they repeatedly raped village women. The villagers dragged the bodies into a cave and named it Kuronbō Gama, which means "Nigger Cave."
The killings were later called the Katsuyama incident and were kept secret until August 16, 1997. The United States government later identified the bodies but refused to investigate or hold anyone accountable. Local police also refused to investigate.
These incidents were very similar to what happened to Italian and German women at the hands of French North African soldiers. The majority of sexual assaults committed by US servicemen in Okinawa today are committed by African-Americans.
