One picture, one lesson. On the left, capitalism straps a rocket to your back and says go. Capital fuels the engine, the skyline gleams below, and the only limit is how high you are willing to climb. On the right, socialism is a rusty contraption belching smoke, shaking itself apart a few feet off the ground. The man at the controls looks terrified, and the cheering section below has no idea it is about to crash.Notice the reporter in the middle. He sits there with his hair standing on end, trying to say socialism soars, and even he cannot get the words out. That might be the most honest part of the whole cartoon. Here is the thing. Capitalism works because it rewards the people who build, invest, take risks, and produce. When you succeed, you keep a share of what you made, so you try harder, and everyone around you benefits from the jobs, the products, and the growth.Socialism flips that. It asks the productive to carry everyone else, and it hands the keys to people who have never had to make a payroll or deliver a result. It is a lot easier to cheer for a free ride when somebody else is paying for the fuel. For a while, it can even look like it works. The pom poms are out, the crowd is happy, and the bills seem far away. But every socialist experiment eventually runs into the same wall. Sooner or later you run out of other people's money, and the party ends. One machine is built to climb. The other is built to coast on what it can take from the people who are climbing.Rockets get you somewhere. Rust gets you a lecture about fairness while the wheels come off.So which one would you rather be strapped into?
