It is about who holds the roof up.If the left vanished, the farms would still run. The grid would still hold. Police, soldiers, firefighters, and nurses would still show up.If conservatives vanished, socialism would take the building. History already ran that experiment. It does not work.Democrats scream that Trump is destroying democracy. Then they opened the tent to the Democratic Socialists of America. DSA now claims more than 120,000 members.Their July platform calls for abolishing the Senate. It wants the president and the courts chosen by, and answerable to, an expanded House. It wants a new constitution for a socialist republic.They treat the Constitution as a roadblock. Their co-chair said they do not even see the point of the Senate.A faction inside the group published Fight the Constitution. The destination is not a tweak. It is a different country.Young people are flocking to it. More than 60 percent of Democratic voters 18 to 34 now say they support socialism as an economic system. Thirty percent of the youngest cohort say they support communism.They think putting democratic in front of socialism changes the product. It does not.A republic with no Senate and a court that answers to one chamber is not a republic. This country would not survive that takeover.If the word democratic is all that stands between socialism and the republic, why are they rewriting the Constitution?
