13. Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: Ephesians 4:13, KJV. Paul, in chapter 4, makes a transition from doctrine to daily living. Paul urges believers to walk worthy of their calling by preserving unity, serving with their spiritual gifts, and growing toward maturity in Christ. He teaches that believers must put off the old sinful way of life, renew their minds, and put on the new self created by God. The chapter concludes with practical instructions about truthfulness, anger, speech, kindness, and forgiveness, all rooted in Christ's example. In today's verse, we are united in one faith with believers as we acquire the knowledge of the Son of God unto the ( perfect ) man; this word is teleios in Greek, meaning an adult, full-grown, or mature in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus. It does not mean without errors, sinless, or that you will know everything. Christianity is more than rules; it is a relationship with Christ. So, being renewed in mind by the Spirit, we should put off the old self, the former sinful nature. In practical application, the new nature comes with a mind that needs to be filled with God's word and the Holy Spirit. Live a life that pleases Christ. Protect unity, use your spiritual gifts, and continue to grow spiritually. Fill your mind with God's truth. Stay in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, speak words that help others, and forgive as Christ forgave you. In the lessons learned, believers should grow spiritually. The new life in Christ should be visible to those around you, and the old sinful nature must be put away. Christ gave His life for you; it is not too much to give Christ all you have. Speak words that heal, be kind, and walk in love like Jesus. Amen.
