Gavin Newsom runs a state where the pump is a luxury tax and the welcome mat is still out. Drivers pay more to sit in traffic while Sacramento writes benefits for people who never stood in the same line. That is not compassion. That is a transfer from the person with a job to the person who skipped the border.High fuel is a policy choice. So is illegal presence on the public ledger. You cannot lecture working families about green virtue and then ask them to subsidize hotel rooms and clinic visits for a population the law already told to leave. California tried it. The middle class left. The bill stayed.A country that wants cheaper gas drills, refines, and stops paying for the crossing. A country that wants a future for its own workers stops treating the salary as a slush fund. Newsom’s model is the warning label. Do not copy it. Vote like the tank and the paycheck belong to the people who earned them.
