This cartoon says it all.Biden's EPA took $2.7 billion of your tax dollars, stuffed it into the Clean School Bus Program, and promised shiny new electric buses for school districts across America.Here is what actually rolled out. According to the New York Post, fewer than 40 percent of the EV school buses bought with those Biden-era grants have been delivered.Fewer than four in ten. Years later.What about the rest? Some are stuck on back order. Some are tangled up in manufacturing problems. And some depended on a supplier that no longer exists. Lion Electric, one of the key bus makers in the program, went bankrupt after taking roughly $160 million in taxpayer dollars. Districts that did get Lion buses reported breakdowns serious enough to pull them off the road.This is not a one-off. It is the pattern.Washington picks a green technology before it is ready, dumps billions into it, and forces it on people who never asked for it. The charging infrastructure is not there. The supply chain is not there. The market is not there without federal cash propping it up. Then Washington calls it progress.We saw it with solar, when Solyndra took a $535 million federal loan guarantee and went belly up. We saw it with wind, when big offshore projects were cancelled after years of hype. Each time, the politicians who pushed it moved on, and the taxpayer picked up the tab.Funding research is one thing. Nobody objects to testing new technology and letting it prove itself. But you cannot force a product into a market that is not ready and then act surprised when the money disappears.The EPA's own watchdog warned back in 2023 that this program was exposed to potential fraud, waste, and abuse. Nobody in the Biden administration hit the brakes.The man peeking out from behind the curtain is asking the right question. Where are the buses? And where did the money go?Should Congress demand a full accounting of every dollar in this program and claw back the money for buses that never showed up?
