Lucille Ball (1911-1989) is the Godmother of #StarTrek.
As head of Desilu Studios, she overrode her own board of directors to finance the show & convinced network executives to greenlight a second pilot after the first one failed.
That second pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone Before," first aired #OTD in 1966. 🖖
