The Magic of The Chapel at Miramar in Portugal
Perched on a rocky outcrop at Miramar Beach in Portugal, only a 15-minutes drive from the bustling city of Porto, the Chapel at Miramar (Capela do Senhor da Pedra or Chapel of the Lord of the Stone) has been guarding the coast since 1763. Built on a site once used for ancient pagan rituals, this hexagonal chapel blends centuries of history, faith, and folklore and is a must-visit for photographers. The little structure is so charming and the surroundings are so picturesque and untouched by international tourism, that it also makes the perfect background for many Portuguese weddings.
The magic especially happens at sunset, when the tide comes in and fills the pools on the beach in front of the chapel. At high tide, the water surrounds the structure and it appears to be floating on water.
