The IDF has published documents seized in Gaza identifying several Al Jazeera journalists as members of Hamas or Islamic Jihad. Not just accusations: payroll tables, lists of military training, directories, and payroll documents. Ismail al-Ghoul appears in a 2021 Hamas document listing members of its military wing. Israel claims he belonged to the Nukhba and participated in October 7. Six other Al Jazeera journalists have been identified by the IDF as members of Hamas or Islamic Jihad, including Anas al-Sharif and Hossam Shabat. Even more disturbing: other documents seized in Gaza show, according to the IDF, that Hamas directly issued editorial directives regarding Al Jazeera’s coverage, particularly to downplay a misfired shot by Islamic Jihad that killed Palestinian civilians. So yes, Mr. Abraham: let’s question the sources. But let’s start by telling the public who they really are and what ties to Hamas are attributed to them in the documents seized in Gaza. SARAH ADV
