The fifth season of “Fauda,” focused on the impact of the October 7, 2023 massacre, has reached the #1 spot on Netflix in Lebanon, a country that maintains no diplomatic relations with Israel and directly experiences the effects of the conflict between Israel and the terrorist group Hezbollah. The series also sparked strong international repercussions after dedicating episodes to the terrorist attack in which the terrorist group Hamas invaded Israel, murdered civilians, and took hostages to the Gaza Strip. Episodes 7 and 8, focused directly on the massacre, received a 9.3 rating on IMDb and generated a wave of reactions on social media. In just one day on Netflix, the series was already in 7th place among the 10 most-watched in 43 countries. In addition to leading in Lebanon, “Fauda” appeared among the most-watched productions in countries like Jordan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. The new season has 11 episodes and was rewritten by Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff after the October 7 massacre. Part of the plot takes place two years after the attack, dealing with the trauma, pain, and consequences of the war. More than an action series, “Fauda” has become a form of memory.
