Ending the 60-day grace period for H-1B and similar work visas is a necessary step. Legal status should exist only while the approved job exists. When that employment ends, authorization to remain should end with it.The extra window created needless bureaucracy and opened the door to delays and shopping for new sponsors. Linking status tightly to actual work reduces waste and keeps the program from being treated as an open-ended stay. This approach puts American workers first and treats these visas as the temporary tools they were designed to be. It lightens the administrative burden and makes the rules match the original purpose.
