21. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.2 Corinthians 5:21; KJV. Paul’s letter in chapter 5 is filled with hope in our resurrection and an urgent call to live for Christ as ambassadors of the gospel of reconciliation. Paul contrasts our earthly body with the eternal body promised by Christ. The Holy Ghost is compared to a down payment or deposit of what is to come: our eternal inheritance. We are reminded that all must appear before Christ’s judgment seat to receive what we earned in the life we lived. God, through His Son Jesus, reconciled all believers to Himself, transforming us into new creatures; I can tell you in truth that although I am not perfect, I am not the person I used to be. We are all called to spread His gospel message, as we might be the only person who can reach a lost soul; the job is not to be ignored or left to others. So, live a life with eternity in view and represent Jesus in your daily life. Help others find peace with God through Christ. The lessons: The Spirit guarantees your future with God. You are a new creation in Christ. You represent Christ everywhere you go. Eternal life gives courage in earthly trials. The gospel is a message of reconciliation; share it with others. The cross is a symbol of Jesus taking our sin on Himself and covering us in His righteousness. Amen.
