'Gan Canny' by Ray Lonsdale, 2021 in Keel Square, Sunderland. It remembers the Vaux Brewery in the town and the 700 Sunderlanders who worked for it before its closure in 1999.
In case anyone is interested, the sculpture is made from Corten Steel which develops a rust patina over time that protects it. The orange glow here is the early sun on it, about 730am this morning.
'Gan canny' in the Sunderland dialect means something like 'go carefully'.
