20. For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.2 Corinthians 1:20; KJV. Paul begins his letter, praising God as the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. In his letter is a message of comfort in suffering, God's faithfulness, Paul's personal testimony of deliverance, and his integrity in preaching Christ. God's comfort enables believers to comfort others. Paul reveals his personal experience of God's deliverance, being rescued from mortal danger. Paul was accused of being unfaithful because he did not visit Corinth when he said he would. Paul defended his integrity and guaranteed he could be trusted because he followed God's plans, not his own. We come to today's verse: all God's promises are fulfilled in Christ Jesus. Christ is "yes" and "amen." This word at the end of a message was repeated, "amen," meaning "so it is," "so be it," "may it be fulfilled," so the person saying it was making the message their very own. Application in Christian life: Go to God first for comfort. Use your trials to encourage others. Trust God in every situation; His promises are sure. The Holy Spirit is our guide, strength, and comfort in our daily walk. The lessons: God is the source of all comfort.Prayer brings deliverance.Every promise of God can be trusted. The Holy Ghost is for believers. Christian suffering equips us to help others. Christian leaders must be sincere and loving. Amen.
