A six year old and a 42 year old socialist have some things in common. Both look at poor people and say, why not just print money and give it to them?A child thinks that way because he has not learned how the world works yet. The grown socialist thinks that way because he never will. It is magical thinking. Money is not wealth. Printing more of it does not grow food, build houses, or create jobs. It just makes the money in your pocket worth less.Socialism has failed every time it has been tried. The Soviet Union promised a workers’ paradise. It delivered bread lines and a secret police. In 1991 the whole thing collapsed.China’s Great Leap Forward was supposed to jump the country forward. Tens of millions starved instead.Venezuela sat on some of the largest oil reserves on earth. After years of socialist control, living standards fell about 74 percent between 2013 and 2023. More than 7 million people ran for the exits.Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge said they were building a fairer world. They filled the killing fields.Same idea. Same ending. Different flag. Now we have grown men in Che shirts talking like first graders. Print it. Hand it out. Fairer world. They have the books. They have the slogans. They do not have a country where it worked. To think it will work this time is more magical thinking. History already ran the experiment. The lab notes are written in empty shelves and graves. You want to help the poor? Let people work, own things, and keep what they earn. That is how nations get rich. Wishing a printing press into a soup kitchen is how they go broke.Bottom line, a child can be forgiven for not knowing better. A 42 year old socialist does not have an excuse.Do you think a grown socialist is just a child who never learned what money actually is?
