Hayden Panettiere handed over custody so her daughter could grow up safe while she fought addiction and depression. For that she was branded a failure and a bad mother. The same culture now treats a woman who strangled her three children as a tragic victim of postpartum illness.
Lindsay Clancy’s defenders speak as if psychosis and medication wipe away the act itself. Mental struggle is real. It does not turn the murder of infants into an understandable medical event. Children are not collateral damage in someone else’s breakdown.
A society that punishes the mother who chose her child’s welfare and excuses the one who ended three young lives has its priorities backward. Responsibility still exists. Innocents still deserve protection. Sympathy without accountability is just another form of abandonment.
