Tuskegee University Bans Bonnets, Durags and slippers — Tells Students to Dress Like Professionals.
Tuskegee University, a historically Black school in Alabama, updated its dress code.
Students cannot wear bonnets, durags, bedroom slippers, or pajamas in academic buildings, dining halls, and official campus spaces.
President Dr. Mark A. Brown said the rules are meant to instill professional habits and prepare students for the workforce. Students are also expected to own business suits and dress shoes for formal events.
Alumni are calling it a return to high standards.
