I warned my sons about this EXACT thing.
When they were teenagers, they felt like men don’t have any rights when it comes to abortion.
And baby, they ain’t entirely wrong.
A man can say, “I want my child. I will raise my child. I will take full responsibility for my child,” and she can still go through with an abortion.
Ain’t a whole lot he can do to stop her.
So I told my sons, THAT is why your choice has to happen before you lay down with her.
You cannot be out here making babies with women you don’t really know, haven’t bothered to understand, and have never had one serious conversation with about what they believe.
Does she believe that baby is a life?
Does she believe a father should have any say at all?
What does she believe about marriage, children, and family?
You better find that out before there is a baby involved. Finding out afterward is too late.
And I told them plainly. If you tell a woman you want your child, you are willing to raise your child, and she aborts that baby anyway, she ain’t the woman you need to build a life with.
That doesn’t mean threaten her. It doesn’t mean harass her. It doesn’t mean spend the rest of your life trying to punish her.
It means pay attention to what her decision told you.
Y’all do not see life, family, or responsibility the same way. And that is too big to overlook just because you love her.
And before somebody starts hollering that I’m blaming women, I was talking to MY sons about THEIR responsibility.
Your responsibility does not begin after she gets pregnant.
It begins with who you chose to lay down with.
Because if you wouldn’t trust that woman with your baby, why are you making one with her?
